| Introduction |
|
Because of the fast growth of industry,
rapid development of technology and pressure of global competition,
improving operation efficiency and lowering operation cost
have become the top priority for each major telecom service
providers in China. With its characteristic of wildly distributed,
large quantity, high unit value and frequently adjusted,
managing fixed assets using current asset management mode
generally fail to optimize deployment of assets and results
in idleness of high-valued network equipments.
Using RFID technology as the link between physical assets
and digital IT system, Invengo RFID Asset Management System
efficiently integrates daily movement of asset with asset
management system to keep synchronous between real asset
and its information in the management system.

System
Components
|

1. RFID Reader
The RFID Reader is the integration of RFID module, GSM wireless
communication module and power panel in one unit to realize
automatic collection of remote data in real-time and wireless
data transmission. It adopts the design of using triggering
Reader using portal switch (Reader is only active when portal
is open) to ensure service life of reader and save energy.
2. Antenna
To assure effective identification of tags in different angles,
circular polarization antenna is selected for the object.
3. RFID Tag
To adapt to the metal surface and various specs of assets of
communication industry, Invengo customized several attachable
tags and hanging tags for different sizes with specialized antenna
design and encapsulation for metal environment.
4. Portable RFID Reader
Portable RFID reader is designed specially for stock count.
It can quickly reader data from asset tag and upload data to
background server using integrated GPRS wireless communication
module.
5. Tag Issuer & Software
To write asset information, including asset name, model, barcode,
etc into RFID Tag and automatically generate report and upload
to GIS System server. It can also set password and lock data
area of tag to prevent data being modified unauthorized.

| Operation |
|
Asset management includes asset operations of addition, flitting,
idleness, maintenance, stock count and discard, covers the
whole lifetime of an asset. Equipment is fixed with a RFID
tag with its information when it is put into service; each
time when the equipment is underwent a management operation,
Reader reads tag information and transmits the information
to server for tracking and management of the equipment.
1. Addition of Assert
Input information of the equipment, including facility, barcode,
model, name, etc into the Tag Issue interface and the Tag Issuer
will write the tag and save the information to the data server.
Then attach or hang the tag to the equipment.
2. Asset Flitting
Open the portal at the station to activate the reader and move
the asset through the portal. Reader will display information
in lcd display and use acousto-optic indicator to prompt the
asset has been identified. Close the portal to register the
asset off from the station. Transported the asset to the designation
station, open the portal to activate the reader and the make
sure the asset has been identified to finish the operation.
3. Asset Maintenance
Open the portal at station to activate the reader, take out
the malfunctioned asset through the portal and make sure it's
identified. Close the portal to register the asset off from
the station. Turn on reader at the maintenance area by pressing
switch, take the asset to the maintenance area through the reader,
make sure it's identified then turn off the reader to finish
the operation.
4. Discard of Asset
Open the portal to activate the reader, take out the malfunctioned
asset through the portal and make sure it's identified. Close
the portal to register the asset off from the station. Turn
on reader at the discard area by pressing switch, take the asset
to the discard area through the reader, make sure it's identified
then turn off the reader to finish the operation.
5. Stock Count
Turn on the Portable Reader and click the ^GPRS ̄ icon to connect
to the server, then click the ^Stock Count ̄ icon to start stock
count.

1. The System has the feature of fast and long
distance identification, high secured and reliable, expandable
and maneuverable. It can also function independently without
relying on other systems.
2. The System builds a reliable and secure asset profile, improves
asset monitor level using high technology to decrease asset
idleness and prevent asset leak.
3. Based on the practical circumstance of the Customer, the
System solves the problems in its asset management of disorder
and lack of real-time measure from technology stand. It provides
an advanced digital platform to automatically identify and intelligently
manage assets, vastly improves the Customer's level of dynamic
managing internal assets in real-time.
4. Fully utilize the automatic information collection function
of RFID and wireless remote data transmission function of GPRS
to synchronize asset change with database, and employ SMS prompting
function to enable remote monitoring and record of local operation
so management can have a real time understanding of asset status.
5. System can automatically judge asset status (addition, flitting,
idleness, etc) from information collected from all station and
area RFID Readers. End user can account and inquire asset data
using GIS interface via Internet browser. |

| Conclusion |

With the implementation of the System, heavy
workload and human error caused by manual operation is complete
eliminated from asset management; the Customer is very pleased
with performance and result of the System.
The system also has following additional benefits:
1. Realizes ^Whole Life-circle Automatic Asset Management ̄,
which utilize the automatic information collection function
of RFID and wireless remote data transmission function of
GPRS to enable centralized and real time tracking, monitoring
and management for the whole life-circle of asset. The whole
operation is human-intervene free, provides the Customer with
precise information for decision making and asset flitting,
effective increase Return of Investment and asset utilization
ratio, and decrease unnecessary asset purchase and idleness.
2. Realizes the ^ Synchronized Management of Asset, location,
time and operators ̄, which integrates routine asset operation
into asset management system, logs all the information of
routine asset operation (mission, time, location, etc), and
introduce SMS prompting function to enable automatic monitoring
of routine asset operation, effectively decreases cost and
labor required for asset counting, avoids asset leak and increases
management efficiency.
3. Realizes remote asset management, user can access system
at any location via standard Internet browser.
